How To Use the Nuggets Mig Welder

  1. Get a good ground clamp - Spend $ 20 and get the copper ground clamps with strong springs. Mig welder you are not smart enough to know when your soil is not good and that just continues to feed the wire. This is why some of the welding wire sounds like a drive by shooting when they first turn on.

  2. Watching your stickout - Stickout controlled by how far you hold your mig welding gun. But also increases when the tip contacts the hidden way back in mig nozzle. Customize your mig gun nozzle so that the tip is flush with the nozzle or even stand out a bit.

  3. Shielding gas - argon 25 CO2 75 is standard. Plain C02 works well. If you have a 115 volt wire feed welding the weld is only with the core flux, sell it and buy one with a gas conversion kit.
  4. Welding wire - bare wire for welding, use E70S6, to use the flux core Lincoln NR211. There are other good buying lets keep it simple.

  5. 115 volt vs 230 volt - 115 volt welding machines are great for sheet metal and up to about 3/16 inch in a pinch ... Next time you are behind a boat trailer, think about whether it is welded to the wire feeder welder 115 volt or 230 volt mig welder or stick welder 230v. Once you get that cold down your spine, slowing down and put some space between you and the boat, then make your mind you do not have to weld something like a boat trailer with a 115 volt mig.

  6. Bare wire VS flux core - the core flux will weld hotter and thicker and the wind outside. Bare wire is better in the metal is really thin and looks better.

  7. Mig welding polarity - the positive polarity of the electrodes Lookup for welding wire is bare. Some flux core wire needs to change the polarity to weld ok. Since mig welding machine does not have the polarity changes, this requires you to swap leads. It's easy and only takes a few minutes, but some people never think about it. Many of the 115 volt mig welder for sale on Craigslist because someone forgot to change the polarity for flux core welding and for that alone, mig machines think they are garbage.
